Free download of Physical and Chemical Aspects of Organic Electronics: From Fundamentals to Functioning Devices

Christof Wöll, "Physical and Chemical Aspects of Organic Electronics: From Fundamentals to Functioning Devices"
Wiley-VCH | 2009 | ISBN: 352740810X | 733 pages | PDF | 16,8 MB

Organic molecules are currently being investigated with regard to their application as active components in semiconductor devices. Whereas devices containing organic molecules for the generation of light - organic light emitting diodes (OLED) - have already reached the market (they e.g. display information on mobile phones), transistors where organic molecules are used to actively control currents and voltages are still in the
development stage.
In this book the principle problems related to using organic materials as semiconductors and to construct functioning devices will be addressed.
A particular emphasis will be put on the difference between inorganic semiconductors such as Si, Ge and GaAs and organic semiconductors (OSC). The special properties of such soft matter require particular approaches for processing characterization and device implementation, which are quite different from the approach used for conventional semiconductors.

Fuel Cell Electrocatalysts and Catalyst Layers: Fundamentals and Applications

Jiujun Zhang - PEM Fuel Cell Electrocatalysts and Catalyst Layers: Fundamentals and Applications

Springer | 2008 | ISBN: 1848009356 | Pages: 1159 | PDF | 41.95 MB

Proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells, including H2/O2 (air) and methanol/O2 (air) fuel cells, are promising clean energy converting devices with high efficiency and low to zero emissions. Such power sources can be used in transportation, stationary, portable and micro power applications. The key components of these fuel cells are catalysts and catalyst layers.

PEM Fuel Cell Electrocatalysts and Catalyst Layers covers all of the fundamental aspects and applications of this field. The opening chapters introduce the essential topics on electrochemical theory and fuel cell catalysis, including: electrode thermodynamics, kinetics, and mass transfer; electrode/electrolyte interface electrocatalysis; electrocatalytic reactions, including O2 reduction and H2/CH3OH oxidations; quantum chemistry simulations of catalyst activity; catalyst contamination; spectroscopic methods for catalysis research; porous gas electrode theory; and catalyst layers and modeling. Later chapters investigate the synthesis, characterization, and activity validation of PEM fuel cell catalysts. All fuel cell related catalysts are reviewed, including noble and non-noble catalysts and their preparation/performance. Further chapters describe in detail the integration of the electrocatalyst/catalyst layers into the fuel cell, and their performance validation, including; catalyst layer structure function and optimization, catalyst degradation and diagnosis, and strategies to mitigate the failure modes.

PEM Fuel Cell Electrocatalysts and Catalyst Layers provides a comprehensive, in-depth survey of PEM fuel cell electrocatalysts and catalyst layers, presented by internationally renowned fuel cell scientists. Researchers and engineers in the fuel cell industry will find this book a valuable resource, as will students of electrochemical engineering and catalyst synthesis.

Arun K. Bhattacharyya - Phased Array Antennas : Floquet Analysis, Synthesis, BFNs and Active Array Systems

Arun K. Bhattacharyya - Phased Array Antennas : Floquet Analysis, Synthesis, BFNs and Active Array Systems

Wiley-Interscience | 2006 | ISBN: 0471727571 | Pages: 520 | PDF | 3.44 MB
A comprehensive guide to the latest in phased array antenna analysis and design–the Floquet modal based approach

This comprehensive book offers an extensive presentation of a new methodology for phased array antenna analysis based on Floquet modal expansion. Engineers, researchers, and advanced graduate students involved in phased array antenna technology will find this systematic presentation an invaluable reference.

Elaborating from fundamental principles, the author presents an in-depth treatment of the Floquet modal based approach. Detailed derivations of theorems and concepts are provided, making Phased Array Antennas a self-contained work. Each chapter is followed by several practice problems. In addition, numerous design examples and guidelines will be found highly useful by those engaged in the practical application of this new approach to phased array structures.

Broadly organized into three sections, Phased Array Antennas covers:
* The development of the Floquet modal based approach to the analysis of phased array antennas
* Application of the Floquet modal based approach to important phased array structures
* Shaped beam array synthesis, array beam forming networks, active phased array systems, and statistical analysis of phased arrays

Incorporating the most recent developments in phased array technology, Phased Array Antennas is an essential resource for students of phased array theory, as well as research professionals and engineers engaged in the design and construction of phased array antennas.

Electronics Process Technology: Production Modelling, Simulation and Optimisation

Wilfried Sauer, Martin Oppermann, Gerald Weigert, Sebastian Werner, Heinz Wohlrabe, Klaus-Jürgen Wolter, Thomas Zerna, “Electronics Process Technology: Production Modelling, Simulation and Optimisation”
Springer | 2006 | ISBN: 1846283531 | 482 pages | PDF | 10,9 MB
In electronics manufacture, the expanding range of products and the smaller-and-smaller scale of increasingly integrated components is producing a trend towards complex and fault-susceptible processes. This fact, coupled with shorter production times and the importance of quality assurance necessitates that process technology be more adaptable and open to new procedures than ever before.
Electronics Process Technology is a systemised presentation of new techniques and methods in electronics manufacture. Planning, preparation and execution are interlinked to achieve robust manufacturing processes that realise optimum quality, costs and quantities in the final product.
Topics covered include:
modelling of manufacturing processes;
graph-theoretical approach to manufacturing planning;
process simulation and optimisation including cost optimisation;
quality assurance and statistical process analysis and control;
reliability models for electronic products and
assembly accuracy.
The authors co-ordinate these disparate subjects into a coherent whole that will be of great interest both to manufacturing engineers working in electronics production and to academics studying the manufacturing process. The book will also be a valuable reference for students of electronics manufacturing technology.

Mechanical Engineering Series-Fuel Cell Technology Handbook

Gregor Hoogers, “Fuel Cell Technology Handbook (Mechanical Engineering Series)”
CRC | 360 pages | 2002 | ISBN: 0849308771 | PDF | 8.99 MB
Fuel cell systems have now reached a degree of technological maturity and appear destined to form the cornerstone of future energy technologies. But the rapid advances in fuel cell system development have left current information available only in scattered journals and Internet sites. The even faster race toward fuel cell commercialization further leaves the objectivity of many Internet articles open to question. The Fuel Cell Technology Handbook is now here to help, providing the first comprehensive treatment of both the technical and commercial aspects of high and low temperature fuel cells, fuel cell systems, fuel cell catalysis, and fuel generation. The first part of the book addresses the principles of fuel cell technology and summarizes the main concepts, developments, and remaining technical problems, particularly in fueling. The second part explores applications in automotive, stationary, and portable power generation technologies. It also provides an expert’s look at future developments in both the technology and its applications. With chapters contributed by experts working in academic and industrial R&D, this handbook forms a reliable, authoritative basis for understanding fuel cell technology, applications, and commercial realities. Whether you’re developing fuel cell components, designing a fuel cell system, or just interested in the viability of an application, the Fuel Cell Technology Handbook is the best place to start.
